Daughters of Atlach-Nacha

The Daughters of Atlach-Nacha begin as normal women who have been chosen by the Great Old One to become one of its giant spider companions. Eventually, The Chosen undergoes a horrific transformation, shedding her human skin, and changing into an enormous spider. This spider is almost completely black, except for the swollen, pulsing abdomen that is streaked with green and gold.

In the RPG...

In spider form, the Daughters of Atlach-Nacha still have mostly human-ranged stats. STR is the only one that is higher, and has been made higher again in the 7e Malleus Monstrorum. It's only 5 points higher, however, which makes me wonder why it was even changed at all. Another update is that their MOV has been increased from 5 to 8. This one makes sense, as 5 MOV always seemed far too slow. The Daughters' attack chance has also been decreased slightly, with its bite dropping from 75% to 60%. Considering the outcome (see below), I think this is another good change.
The Daughters' primary ability is that they have a venom which paralyses their victim for up to 6 hours, during which time they will eat their face and suck their brain out through their eye sockets, stealing 5 INT per minute. The true horror, I feel, comes from the fact that this victim can be rescued, though they are permanently blind, have lost APP and however much INT the Daughter had consumed. Another 7e update is that only 2D10 APP is lost, averaging 11. Previously, it worked out to an average of 25. Considering that the flesh of the victim's head has been devoured, I personally feel the old 25 is a much better number.
A standard attack from a Daughter doles out an average of 10 damage, which could almost kill an average Investigator, so they are quite deadly, even without their bite. They also have 5 armour, so melee weapons and pistols will be mostly ineffective against them.
Another new addition includes details on the Daughters' webs, which, in hindsight, was an odd omission for the stat block of a giant spider. They've also removed the detail of all victims being female, and have placed the "Daughters" label in quotation marks, implying it is nothing more than a moniker.

In a video game...

Giant spiders are a staple of practically every fantasy game, so including the Daughters of Atlach-Nacha would be nothing new. I do, however, think that stumbling across the ritual in progress would be pretty cool, as well as seeing the transformation occur. There's also the horror inherent in saving someone from the Daughters' feast.

In a film...

My thoughts on seeing a Daughter of Atlach-Nacha on screen are pretty much the same as with a video game—the transformation and feast would be cool, but the spider itself would not be anything new.
