Children of Shub-Niggurath are grown from a seed pod and are human-shaped bundles of muscle and tentacles, constantly twisting and flexing, with numerous red or yellow eyes and a multitude of small mouths. Their head is simply a great slavering maw.
(Note: I couldn't find an image to accompany this entry, but I personally envision them as human-shaped Dark Young)
In the RPG...
The Children of Shub-Niggurath are a new addition to Call of Cthulhu, and visually they seem pretty cool. Being new, it would have been beneficial to have some artwork of them in the Malleus Monstrorum, but there isn't. Besides their appearance, however, there isn't much else unique. Their stats are all human-ranged, and they have pretty standard attacks, including a grab maneuver. An average person has a 24% chance of breaking its hold, but there is also a caveat that 5+ damage to the Child can grant a Luck roll for escape instead.
In a video game...
Being a visually interesting creature, I think they would work fine in a video game.
In a film...
The Child's creation is an interesting one, so it could make for an interesting story, and their unique look has the potential to be horrific on-screen in the hands of a good FX artist.
