Shoggoth Lords

Smaller, more intelligent Shoggoths that are able to mimic humans in both speech and appearance... albeit grossly obese and hairless.

In the RPG...

When in human form, a Shoggoth Lord's stats are roughly human. Their STR and CON is less than their Shoggoth form, apparently due to the concentration it takes to retain their human shape. This doesn't really make sense to me. When I'm concentrating hard on something I don't become weaker or less fit. Strength of mind is abstracted into POW, so I personally think that should be the only stat that gets reduced.
Like a regular Shoggoth, a Shoggoth Lord takes only half damage from fire and electricity, and physical weapons deal a mere 1 damage. They also regenerate 2 hit-points per round. Unlike a regular Shoggoth, however, their engulf maneuver can be escaped with an opposed STR roll—though an average person still only has a 15% chance of that.
The Shoggoth Lords in the 7e Malleus Monstrorum have a wider range of SIZ than in the old edition (50-100 vs 80-95), a lesser range of POW, as well as a slightly lower EDU.

In a video game...

Because of their ability to blend into human society, I think Shoggoth Lords could be used to great effect in a video game. The caveat, however, is that they're pretty much impossible to kill, so might not make for great enemies in that regard. As such, I would probably only use them to drive a story rather than have them actively opposing the player.

In a film...

Though I've only read half of it, Michael Shea's Fat Face—from which the Shoggoth Lords are derived—would probably make an interesting short film. I'll post an update when I eventually get around to finishing it.
