Ghoul Hounds of Leng are based on the beast from the Lovecraft story "The Hound". They are large, bat-winged canines. They relentlessly hunts down anyone who steals amulets of their likeness.
In the RPG...
For some reason, The Hound was never included in the old Malleus Monstrorum, though it could be found in the Keeper's Companion (Vol. 1). While now included in the 7e Malleus Monstrorum, quite a few changes have been made, the biggest of which is changing it from a unique supernatural entity into a race of creatures they call the Ghoul Hounds of Leng.
Now that the supernatural elements have been removed, the Hounds are quite mundane monsters. They have human-ranged stats, 3-point armor, and simply attack with their claws and teeth. The only real ability of the Hounds is a death stare which will transfix its victim in place while it gives them a vision of what they did to attract its attention (losing a bit of Sanity in the process). Hearing their howling also takes a tiny bit of Sanity each time it is heard, but that's about it really.
For anyone curious what The Hound's stats were, or may want to use it in a game instead, here is its stat block:
In a video game...
Now that the Hounds are simply mundane enemies, they would work much better in a video game than before. Being unkillable would not have suited the medium, unless used merely in a cutscene or as an easter egg.
In a film...
I absolutely love the story The Hound, so needless to say, I would also love a well-made adaption.
