Described only as "cuboid, many-legged metal beings". The Inhabitants of L’gy’hx stand only about three-feet tall, but are very heavy and strong. Some may have come to Earth as slaves of the Shan.
The L’gy’hxians have human-ranged stats except for STR, which is slightly higher. CON is the only stat which has changed for the 7e Malleus Monstrorum, though the average is still the same. Armor has also changed, from 19 down to 10. They have metal skin, so I personally feel that 17 was a better number, especially considering that a 1" steel plate is rated at 19.
One of the most unique traits of L’gy’hxians is that they use technology. They have a knife that can slice through metal, an electric whip, as well as an energy ray (new to 7e). Sadly, the first two have been nerfed a little in the 7e edition. Whereas they used to average 8 and 13 damage, they're now only 7 and 6. The energy ray is even worse, averaging only 5 damage. However, it also has the added bonus of being able to render its target unconscious for a few rounds if they fail a CON roll.
In a video game...
I think L’gy’hxians would work just fine in a video game. More likely as NPCs than enemies, however. Even as a slave of the Shan, they might be inclined to aid the player in return for their freedom.
In a film...
Unfortunately, I don't think Ramsey Campbell's "The Insects from Shaggai" would make a very good film. It would require more CGI than its length would justify.
