The Miri Nigri are mute dwarves created by Chaugnar Faugn from the flesh of toads. They tirelessly serve Chaugnar Faugn in his lair, only leaving twice a year to acquire sacrificial victims.
In the RPG...
Miri Nigri mostly have low-end human stats, lacking only in SIZ and INT. Their threat comes from the fact that they're generally encountered in groups of ten or more.
The 7e Malleus Monstrorum has changed only two Miri Nigri stats. For a start, APP has now completely been removed. They had very low APP (5-30), but the fact that they had it at all implied that they appeared human enough to be able to pass for one, however ugly. The other altered stat is SIZ, which has the same average (30), but a different range. Whereas it used to be 25-40, it is now 5-55. While this does bring 28% of them up to human size, it also means that the lowest value is now 5. For reference, that's the size cats are listed as.
In a video game...
Like the Servants of Y'Golonac, I see the Miri Nigri as the minions of a boss battle with Chaugnar Faugn more than anything. Otherwise, they could also be encountered in a village during their bi-annual sacrifice collection, where the goal would obviously be to save the village, which would undoubtedly anger Chaugnar Faugn, leading to a boss battle anyway.
In a film...
When Miri Nigri could pass as human I thought they would be good in a film, but now that they're little more than squat toad-men, I don't think they have as much potential.
